Advent & Christmas Challenge for Catholic Marriages {2023}

October 2024 Update: See our 2024 challenge here!

It’s hard to believe that this is the fifth year we’re offering a marriage challenge during Advent! We started this as a simple way to keep our marriage a priority during one of the busiest times of the year. It really has served as a great reminder to 1) remember that we are preparing for Jesus’s coming at Christmas and when He comes again, and 2) that the little things in marriage really do make a big difference.

The link between marriage and Advent

Since marriage and Advent have a special link (in that both point us towards Heaven), we have found that Advent can be such a beautiful time if we use this season to draw closer to each other, to foster our relationship together, and to remind each other of the end goal—eternal life in heaven.

As always, this challenge includes both a calendar with a simple challenge each day, as well as a guide that gives you some ideas on how to complete each challenge.

New this year: Christmas challenges!

When we really focus on Advent and the meaning of the season, it makes Christmas even more special and celebratory. For years, our family has loved celebrating the Christmas season by doing at least one special thing each day of Christmas. So we thought it’d be fun to include marriage challenges for the Christmas season as well, especially since this year Advent is the shortest it can possibly be. The Christmas challenges are more fun, because it’s a time to celebrate, and we want couples to have fun together!

We’ve included a blank calendar (as usual) for you to use instead if you’d like, to write in your own challenges. It’s also a great way to keep track of everything going on — feel free to use it for the challenge on the first day of Advent, “Make an Advent plan.”

But if you’re not really feeling the daily challenge, check out our new Journey Through Advent for Catholic Couples, where we provide a weekly date night!

If you’re ready for the Advent and Christmas challenge, though, the calendar and guide is available in our shop! Add it to your cart by clicking the button below (or click here if it’s not showing up)…
